It’s a bit ironic that Amy Parker, who wrote this piece seems to be the scientific type, yet she uses anecdotal information to support her stance on vaccinations and being raised in a natural family by “health nuts”. I find it curious she says she had precancerous HPV (which never turned into cancer) but Gardasil – the HPV vaccine- wasn’t even around when she got it as she was too old for that (especially having kids at 19 and getting HPV in her 20’s) so not even sure why she mentions that. Plus Gardasil is so controversial with an actual Gardasil researcher speaking out about the dangers and countless girls and women coming forward in National News reports who say they’ve been seriously harmed by the vaccination.
I am a similar age to this woman and while my parents were 70’s hippies (I too was born in the 70’s) they were alas, pro vaccination. I ended up hospitalized with a 103.7 fever, seizures and underwent a spinal tap (not fun at 3 months old) after a series of vaccinations. Luckily I recovered but we suspect I sustained long term injuries from that vaccine (not limited to ADD which I also had my entire childhood)
This author at Mothering.com breaks down the article quite well. Turns out she couldn’t have even had the mumps vaccine when she was little (living in the UK) and would have gone through mumps just like all the other kiddies.
It sounds like Amy Parker came out pretty good despite going through those childhood illnesses (which many think strengthen the immune system) and gave birth to two healthy babies. I’d trade that for a serious vaccine injury any day.
